Spatial Aggregations explored the design and fabrication of spatial assemblies created through the positioning of rectangular-profile wood elements, using the full potential of the robotic arm’s six degrees of freedom. In a one week design and build workshop, the students developed their design idea as well as the sequential logic of the constructive process that allowed them to build iterations of physical models efficiently. The spatial aggregation of elements leads away from conventional space-frame typologies, fostering the exploration of new structural and topological systems and fabrication-aware design strategies.
